About Linton Hart
Linton was born in the town of Stourbridge, England in 1959. His father William was a multi award winning portrait photographer & his mother was also a talented artist in her own right. In 1958 his parents started their photography business located in Lye a district of Stourbridge. For the first four years of his life he & the family lived above the shop & studio.
Having been surrounded by cameras, photographs & art since his birth, it was only natural Linton would be inspired. He was constantly sketching from a very young age & enjoyed drawing cartoons & scenes from TV favourites of the time, such as Dr Who & anything produced by Gerry Anderson such as Thunderbirds & Stingray. At the age of ten he was swapping his drawings for sweets & toys with other children in the playground. At the age of eleven he was runner up in a design a train of the future competition held by the UK TV show Blue Peter & was awarded a prestigious Blue Peter Badge.
At the age of sixteen Linton went into the family business. He learnt portrait photography from his father & also attended Wednesbury Photography College where he studied City & Guilds photography. He also taught himself to use the airbrush where he used it in the restoration of old photographs & for creating his own art. At the age of eighteen he photographed his first wedding & went on to cover over five hundred weddings. The business stopped photographing weddings in 1990 to concentrate purely on studio photography.
Linton now runs the portrait studio 'Portraits by Hart' with his brother Gordon following the retirement of their father in 1994.
During the late 1990's Linton moved his photograph restorations to the computer & had his first introduction to Photoshop. In 2005 the studio went totally digital & this is when the world of digital art opened up for him. For the first time he could combine photography with his painting techniques, he hasn't looked back since! As Linton says “these days, if you can dream it you can create it”
In 2008 he attained the award of SWPP UK Digital Art Photographer of the Year & has won over 50 SWPP Gold Awards for his photography & Digital Art.
